Tents, cooking equipment, food and personal baggage are carried by the mules so you only have to carry a daypack with the items you need for the day. Accommodation on hike is usually in two person tents with the occasional night in a village house or alpine hut.
Due to the fluctuations in exchange rates, we do not publish a fixed price for a trek. Please contact
Tizi Trekking to get up to date prices which will be at the most competitive rates. We can also design custom tours to suit any specific requirements.
As we deal directly with the client, our rates are very favourable compared to package tour operators who will have higher running costs and commissions to local agents.
Flights to Morocco have become very affordable in recent years and by packing sensibly, you may be able to avoid hold luggage. This is the case with easyjet who have a generous cabin allowance for hand luggage.
What is included
Mountain or desert guide, Marrakech Airport transfers, all land transport involved in the itinerary, hotel accommodation in Marrakech, at bed & breakfast rates.
Once on the actual trek, a full service, including food and all equipment (excluding personal equipment) is included in the trek price.
Whilst staying in the hotels, the accommodation is provided half board, which includes breakfast and evening meal. During the day in the towns, you may purchase your own choice of lunch. During the actual trekking adventure, all meals are provided by our own catering arrangements or local Berber houses.
What is not included
International flights, travel Insurance (compulsory), personal expenses – lunches in Marrakech or towns, soft drinks, souvenirs etc.
Please ensure that your insurance policy provides suitable cover for the type of trek undertaken. Some standard policies will not cover higher altitudes and make sure trekking is an accepted activity.
Walking at altitude
If you have not walked at altitude before, you should consider whether the trek is suitable for you. The thin air at the top of the peaks can cause some people shortness of breath and altitude sickness. As a precautionary step, Tizi Trekking take this into consideration by providing acclimatisation walks up to high passes and then back down again before tackling the highest peaks. If you are unsure of your fitness you should speak to your doctor.
It is recommended that you have a reasonable fitness before attempting any treks and should ensure that you have undertaken some walks involving gradients over an equivalent length of time to the chosen trek.
This is for your own benefit as well as your fellow trekkers.
It is recommended that you speak to your doctor or health centre to check the current recommended vaccinations for Morocco.
These are the usual recommended vaccinations – Hepatitis A, Polio, Typhoid and Tetanus.
Morocco is a Muslim country, and out of respect for local customs, particularly in more remote communities, you should dress appropriately. Knee-length shorts are acceptable. Ladies should avoid wearing tight fitting or transparent clothes or wearing garments that exposure excessive areas of skin. Shoulders should be covered up in both men and women.
In most countries it is customary to tip for good service. This is entirely at your discretion. However, tipping is a recognized part of life where wages are at a lower rate compared to Europe and the Western World.
In larger groups, it may be sensible to create a tips kitty, and a nominated person such as the tour leader will account for it throughout the tour. This saves time and the need for everyone to find small amounts of money on a regular basis
For a week’s trek, it is suggested that each trip participant sets aside 30 euro for tipping the local crew, porters, muleteers and local guides (i.e museum staff).
Tour Guide Tipping
Again entirely voluntary, if you are happy with the service and efficiency of the tour guide you may like to show your appreciation in a tip for their part in making the tour enjoyable and run smoothly.
